How to bridge from Avalanche to Optimism
Step 1: Get a Web3 wallet
Without a wallet, it’s almost impossible to bridge your assets across chains. MetaMask is a secure Web3 wallet you can use to send and receive cryptocurrencies. This application can be downloaded from your mobile app stores or web stores.
Step 2: Setup your Wallet
The next step is to add the networks - Avalanche and Optimism to your Metamask. This can be automatically done with Chainlist. To begin, visit chainlist.org and connect your MetaMask to the website, search for Avalanche and Optimism on the search bar and add them to your wallet. The process should take 3 minutes max.
Step 3: Visit the Synapse protocol
Go to the bridge protocol and connect your wallet. Select the networks you want to send from and that you want to send to. Input the amount of assets you want to transfer from Avalanche to Optimism.
Step 4: Approve the transaction
When you’ve inputted the desired amount you want to bridge, click on the” Bridge Token” button and confirm the transaction. The bridging process should take between 1 - 2 minutes.
Avalanche to Optimism Bridging Fees
Bridging between Avalanche and Optimism is relatively cheap because both platforms use a proof-of-stake consensus model which enables low-fee transactions. We expect users to pay on average between $5-$10 to swap any available token between both networks. That said, we recommend using USDC to bridge because it typically has the lowest slippage and lowest fees.
There are many bridging protocols for moving assets across Avalanche and Optimism blockchains. Synapse protocol bridge is the most affordable and secure way to bridge instantly. With over $10 billion in bridging volume, the protocol has proven to be the best choice for users.
