Solana validators passed SGP-0002 in the network's first binding onchain governance vote, doubling the disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. The measure cleared 67.0% against a 66.67% requirement across 1,326 votes with 60.7% quorum.
The change accelerates issuance toward a fixed 1.5% floor, reaching it by 2029 rather than 2032 and creating roughly 18.9 million fewer tokens over six years. Kraken opposed it through the count before flipping at the last minute, nearly sinking the proposal.
Cutting issuance squeezes the rewards paying validators, with 21Shares projecting staking yields falling from about 5.25% to 2.25% within three years. That explains why several custodians initially resisted before reversing course under lobbying from Helius.
Validators also ratified the Solana Constitution with 86% support, formalizing how future votes operate. A separate resource fee proposal that would have burned up to 14 times more tokens daily failed at 53.9%, and SOL slid 3.83% once that result landed.
Bitcoin neared $79,000 after Michael Saylor posted "We're Back" on X, most likely signaling the firm's first acquisition since June 22. The token climbed more than 2.5% from Friday's low following a hawkish Jackson Hole address.
The company spent months from May trimming its stash to shore up its balance sheet before halting sales and issuing MSTR shares instead. With nearly four years of preferred dividend coverage secured, fresh capital now looks destined for coins and STRC buybacks.
Bybit will launch options contracts tied to stock perpetuals from September 17, opening with SpaceX and Nvidia. The products offer fractional lots, USDT settlement, and portfolio margin, sidestepping traditional market hours and the standard 100-share minimum.
Tesla, QQQ, and Micron follow as the exchange widens its lineup. The launch deepens a convergence where tokenized equities become building blocks for complex products, with equity perp volume climbing from $85 billion in January to $470 billion by June.
Layer 1 blockchain Fogo halted its network roughly 15 hours after the foundation disclosed that an unknown actor compromised the organization and sent 400 million tokens, then worth about $3 million, to a bad actor.
Those tokens represent 4% of genesis supply and more than 10% of the circulating float, with no attack vector or affected addresses yet disclosed. Bitget suspended deposits an hour before the first public disclosure, with KuCoin following suit.
Investors sit at least $4.7 billion underwater across ventures tied to President Trump, according to Public Citizen, while he earned $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025. Roughly 1 million of 1.6 million retail wallets holding his memecoin are down $3.2 billion combined.
World Liberty Financial accounts for another $1 billion and Trump Media's bitcoin treasury a further $450 million in paper losses. The group renewed calls for ethics provisions in the market structure bill facing a September 15 cloture vote.
